Street Photography: Taking Inspiration from Strangers

When I started photography 4 years ago, I had a basic point-and-shoot camera that I brought everywhere. I took photos of trees, interesting cloud formations, even cats that are lounging on small patches of sunshine. I was also fascinated with buildings that have intricately-patterned arches, carved doors, and high ceilings. Taking photos of strangers, though, is more exciting. The thought of capturing a fleeting moment in a photo that can last a long time makes it more special.

Taking photos of ordinary people, for most photographers, is more gratifying because situations are neither staged nor forced. Henri Cartier-Bresson, considered to be the father of photojournalism said that “[…] a photograph could fix eternity in an instant.” His photos, like those of Robert Doisneau’s and Vivian Maier’s, are perfect samples of candid street photography. Theirs are photos that include spontaneous portraits without having any influence on the scene at all.

Street photographers can find subjects everywhere. The streets are filled with moments waiting to be captured. One’s timing, sensitivity, and agility are important to capture moments that would’ve been lost forever. Take your cue from these photos that inspire me (and hopefully, you) to become more observant in my daily strolls.

Split Second – 30 Awesome High Speed Photography Samples

High speed photography is a technique in which a camera is set up to take pictures of objects in motion that would normally be too fast to be seen by the naked eye. It usually involves a tremendous amount of patience and an awful lot of trial and error. Though everyone has access to equipment that make it possible to take high-speed photographs, only a skilled photographer can capture that one in a million shot.

Below are some perfectly timed photographs that can never be entirely duplicated. Enjoy!

We have collected a number of creative photo manipulations. The purpose of these photos may vary. Some could be for the purpose of advertising, others could have been created out of boredom or sheer fun, but you will definitely enjoy the following samples. Enjoy this round-up!

Photos of Lightning: 30 Electrifying Examples

Lightning is a dangerous and destructive natural phenomenon produced during a thunderstorm. However, for most photographers, it is a beautiful creation from Mother Nature. Capturing photos of lightning is quite challenging and is also one of the most rewarding tasks. Chances are rare for a particular situation, but if you have taken the best shot, the image produced is amazingly spectacular and unique.

The rules of photography have nothing to do when it comes to finding the right techniques for taking photos of lightning. The more important thing is the safety of you and your equipment. Being out in the middle of the field, under the tree, or near bodies of water is not advisable. You must be indoor when taking your pictures. The next thing that you are to consider is to have some proper equipment like a good quality camera with a “B” (bulb) setting for extended exposure, good quality film, steady tripod, and cable shutter release. You also need to keep away from the natural and unnatural sources of light around you as it could create a little contrast between other light sources and the bolt of lightning especially when you are taking lightning photos during a sunny day.

Here are some examples of of Electrifying Photos of Lightning to inspire you. You can always leave a comment if you find these photos very striking to look at!
