Fan Art Friday – 20 Illuminating Artworks Featuring Jennifer Lawrence

“It girls” come and go, but there’s something about Jennifer Lawrence that separates her from the rest. The current toast of Tinseltown who won the 2013 Academy Award for Best Actress in the film “Silver Linings Playbook,” Lawrence combines ever-improving acting chops with a charmingly down-to-earth attitude.

Fan Art Friday – 20 Illuminating Artworks Featuring Jennifer Lawrence

She came into prominence for her head-turning role in “Winter’s Bone,” a 2010 indie film that scored her first Academy nomination for Best Supporting Actress. However, her star rose to ridiculously new heights when she played Katniss Everdeen in the book-to-film adaptation of “The Hunger Games.”

While her performances on film have received universally praised, her awkward and self-deprecating personality has gained equal buzz. She owned the night at the Oscars, from tripping down the stairs on her way to receive the Best Actress award to flipping the bird on her post-Oscars interview. How can you not like this girl?

In tribute to her young, stellar career, we’ve compiled 20 of the best artworks made by the most talented people on the Internet that show the luminous beauty of this sex symbol.

Featured Artist: Peter Nguyen’s World of Superheroes

Some of us might have idolized a superhero or any character from our favorite comic books once in our childhood. While most of us dreamed of acquiring their abilities, there are a few people who wanted to be a part of their world, not by having supernatural powers but the privilege to recreate their stories and redraw the characters we all love.

Comic book artists play a vital role in shaping the different comic universes we grew up with. Artists in this creative field can be commonly classified into as penciller, inker, colorist and cover artist – each has a very important role in bringing us the best comic graphics that accompany a good story line. And as our featured artist  for this month, we take a peek on the amazing career of one of the many pencillers in the comics industry – Peter V Nguyen.

Peter V Nguyen

Peter currently works as a penciller for Marvel and DC. Some of his notable works include Batman: Arkham Unhinged (2012), Batman: Bruce Wayne – The Road Home (2011), DC Holiday Special ’09 (2010), Fear Itself: Black Widow (2011), Gotham City Sirens (2009), Secret Avengers (2010) and Women of Marvel (2011).  Being an avid reader of comics since he was a kid, Peter’s love of the characters made him decide to pursue a career in the comics industry. His very first published full issue was “Secret Six” way back in 2009 after his talent was discovered when he became a part of a Wildstorm competition back when he was in college.

Justice League Beyond | Peter Nguyen

Like most pencillers do, Peter starts his works by doing a couple of sketches on the script and layouts. Then carry them out to finish with regular 0.5 mechanical pencils. Aside from being a penciller, he also worked as an inker for titles such as Marvel Adventures Super Heroes (2010) and Women of Marvel Digital (2010); colorist for DC Holiday Special ’09 (2010) and cover artist for Incorruptible (2009), Planet of the Apes: Cataclysm (2012) and Supurbia(2012).

I liked the idea that as a penciller you get to play as Director. You get to cast your own characters, set them in a scene and choose the angle that you think works best and find appropriate lighting. You basically control almost everything and you can be praised for your choices or if they are bad you can be blamed for them.” – Peter Nguyen

Lets take a look at some of Peter Nguyen’s amazing sketches, digital works and random drawings of some of the most notable comics characters below:

Fashion illustration has been a staple in most fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and such. The rich fluid lines, bold colors and sometimes the painterly like quality of an illustration brings a whole different sense and meaning in translating clothes that captures and entertains the viewer. While photography does a great job in showing the beauty of fashion, there are times that a good old hand made work brings out a more intimate and sincere approach. This is why for today’s post we are bringing you dear readers some of the most talented and upcoming fashion illustrators and a piece of their work for your eyes to feast upon.
