Can you see effect now?

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 09

To finish off this effect I would like to bring some glare for letters. Load text selection (Ctrl+ left click the text layer thumbnail in the layers palette), then holding Ctrl+Shift cut off part of selection as shown on my picture below:

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 10

Fill selected area with white to transparent gradient on the new layer.

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 11

Remove selection with Ctrl+D. Now, time to add some natural elements to our techno style text to mix two styles in one. For that create new layer and set up foreground color as #c6c800 and background color as #328122, then select the Brush Tool and one of standard brush from Photoshop palette:

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 12

Now, change brush size for chosen brush to 40 pixels and then click the button ‘Toggle the Brushes palette’ on the Options Bar to open brush presets window or by choosing Window > Brushes. Here we can see a couple of presets. Set up the following presets for current brush:

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 15

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 16

After that add a few curved lines to letters as shown on my screenshot which you can see below:

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 17

Then reduce brush size to 9 pixels and add some small appendices on the same layer.

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 18

Using the Sharpen Tool increase the sharpness for these lianas.

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 19

To bring our lianas more realistic view I would like to add some shadow from it to letters. Apply Drop Shadow layer style for this layer.

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 20

Divide layer style from current layer with Layer > Layer Style > Create Layer. Now, select text shape again (Ctrl+ left click the text layer thumbnail in the layers palette) and go to the layer under, then inverse selection with Ctrl+Shift+I and press Delete to clear selected area.

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 21

Deselect chosen area with Ctrl+D. And the last thing that I would like to do is to bring some insects to our lianas. You can use Google Images for finding some appropriate picture or feel free to use mine. Open up it and copy a few times to our main canvas. Don’t forget to reduce copies and rotate it a little bit with Ctrl+T.

Creating Text Decoration by Mixing Two Styles 22

We are done for this step! Our mixed text style looks pretty much good, isn’t it?

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products

Here one more interesting tutorial how to create 3D box for professional presentation of a particular product. I prefer to create box for some software product.

So, let’s start! First of all make a new document with the resolution 500×500 pixels for this tutorial. Select this canvas with white color.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 01

Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool create the same rectangular selection as on my picture you can see below. Then create a new layer and fill this selection with linear gradient using the #013a55 and #005f82.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 02

Now, try to separate visually the lateral from the front part of the box. Holding the Alt button cut away the biggest part of the selection as was shown below. Fill the remainder of the selection with black to transparent gradient.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 03

Remove selection with Ctrl+D and move to the next step. I would like to bring some abstraction graphic elements to our future bow. So, I can create some graphic elements by myself. Create new layer and using the Brush Tool add a few soft strokes with white color.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 04

Then apply Filter > Distort > ZigZag with next presets:

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 05

Change layer mode to Overlay and set up opacity to 35%.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 06

Now we need to clean all the white lines that extend beyond the size of the box. Select the box shape (Ctrl+left click on the box layer thumbnail on layers palette), then inverse selection with Ctrl+Shift+I and press Delete button to clear selected area.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 07

Remove selection with Ctrl+D. Ok, time to add software logo to the box. You can find some logo using Google Images or you also can use my logo. Open up the picture and copy it to our main canvas. Then reduce it a little bit.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 08

Load selection of our logo with Select > Load Selection, then holding the Alt button use the Polygonal Lasso Tool to unselect all the petals leaving the biggest one. Fill this selected area with linear gradient using colors of #a8f522 and #547300.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 09

Deselect chosen area with Select > Deselect. Then duplicate this layer with Ctrl+J, after that change opacity to 20% for current layer and use Edit > Flip Vertical and compress it a little bit vertically also.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 10

Merge two of layers with logo together, then duplicate new layer and move it to the left upper corner of the box. Don’t forget to reduce it also.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 11

Ok, move to the next step: time to add the text. I would like to add product’s name on the first line. Select the Horizontal Type Tool and add the first text line with color of #a3e30a in the middle of front part of the box under the logo.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 12

In the above image I’ve used a font called Arial Narrow, which is one of standard Windows fonts. Using the white color add more text lines with the same font but different sizes. There should be some short description, copyright etc.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 13

Move to the next step. We have to add two text lines to the lateral. Just copy Software Name and short description text lines. Move it bit left and using Ctrl+T rotate 90 CCW and reduce a little as shown on my picture below.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 14

To finish off the box model I would like to add bar code. You can download it from here. Copy it to our main canvas and reduce it also.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 15

Ok, now merge all the layers except background layer in one and start with creating three-dimensional model for presentation. We need to add some perspective to our object. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to divide front part of the lateral.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 16

Press Ctrl+Shift+J to cut selected part to the new layer. Then apply Edit > Transform > Perspective to the new layer to put it to the perspective.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 17

Then move cursor to right vertical middle point of transforming grid. When you will see two arrows up and down near cursor move middle point a little bit up. The result should be the same as mine:

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 18

After that duplicate layer with Ctrl+D to make reflection by using this layer and then apply Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical and move transformed copy down. You should have the same picture as mine:

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 19

Then apply Edit > Transform > Skew to transform the lowest part a little bit more.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 20

Ok, now move to the layer with lateral and apply Edit > Transform > Perspective for it also.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 21

Then press Ctrl+J to duplicate current layer and apply Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical and move flipped copy down.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 22

Then use Edit > Transform > Skew to transform this part of image like on my picture below.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 23

Merge two of layers that you’re planning to make reflection from and apply Quick Mask Mode with gradient as below:

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 24

Then go back to Standard Mode. Now we have some selected area. Press Delete button to clear selected part of image.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 25

Remove selection with Ctrl+D and set up opacity to 37% for this layer.

Creating 3D Box for Professional Presentation of Products 26

On this step our work is done. We made 3D box professional presentation of software product. Hope you have better result as mine! If not, just keep on training and you will get the best results for sure!

Photo Edges

Today’s cameras, like many zoom lenses, make the edges of the picture disappear so the edges become invisible. Any photographer, who has ever printed the pictures himself using a darkroom, knows that when printing the photos there is a choice to print the image without cropping, creating those dark rough looking edges. Today we are going to teach you how this is created using Photoshop, in just ten easy to follow steps.

  1. select and load the picture of your choice and select the entire canvas by pressing “A+Control”. After this is done you can start cutting out the image by pressing “X+Control”.
  2. Create a new file. Photoshop uses the size of the image in the clipboard as the new file’s size. Ensure you have selected white as your background, then press the enter button so the new file is created.
  3. Hold down V+Control in order to place the copied image in the newly created file. After this is successfully done use the marquee tool to draw a box around the copied image, but make sure never to touch the edges of the window.
  4. click on “select”, in order to get to the “modify” menu, and from there select “Feather”. Use this tool to make the corners just a little rounder.
  5. Again click “select”. This time to get to “refine edge” in order to edit the corners, cleaning them up. While doing this make sure contrast is set to 100 percent.
  6. Make sure your image is the layer which is selected and click on “layer” and in the menu select “layer mask”, and in the sub menu select “reveal selection”.
  7. Press Control and hold it down, while left clicking on the new layer mask, in order to once again get the right selection, and from there click “select”, in order to get again to the modify sub menu, where you select expand. As a value you put in “2″ and click the ok button.
  8. Make a new layer, and place it under the layer for the image. At this point your Marquee tool should still be selected, and if it is click inside the selection, using the right mouse button, where you can select fill in the menu that appears. Use this tool to fill the selection and after this hold down “D+Control”, in order to deselect it.
  9. Make a copy of your new layer. With one of these layers selected, click on “Filter” and select “Blur”, in the submenu select “Radial Blur”. Select all new layers by pressing and holding down Control and left click with the mouse on the layer palette, then hold down “E+Control” in order to merge the layers.
  10. Last click on “edit” and select “transform”, and in that submenu select “warp”, in order to generate a wavy effect, in order to make it seem less flattened. Be subtle about it though, or you will get straight dark lines.

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility

Sometimes it happens that we need to sharpen photos for which there is noise, for example, pictures taken at night. But overall increase in photo sharpness increases and the noise visibility also. How to be in this situation? I can show you one method in Photoshop, how to avoid it.

First of all you should find some appropriate photo to work with. I prefer to use this one. Open up this photo and start the tutorial. Go to Channel panel (Window > Channels). The first step is to look at the channels palette and determine which color channel best represents the area we want to capture. To the right, shown from top to bottom, you can see the red, blue, and green channels for this image. It’s obvious that the red channel contains the most information because it is most light. Click on the red channel and drag it down to the new channel button to create copy of it.

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 01

We got the copy as you can se on the above picture. Then apply for copied channel Filter > Stylize > Glowing Edges with similar settings to these:

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 02

Now we have effect like this:

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 03

Hold the Ctrl button and click the Red copy thumbnail in the channels palette to load selection of this channel.

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 04

After that we can delete this channel: click on the Red copy channel and drag it down to the delete current channel button to delete it. Then go to layers palette (Window > Layers) and press Ctrl+H to hide selection temporary, but don’t remove selection for now! It is important! Then apply Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask with some suitable presets for the photo. Pay your attention that for each photo presets should be individual. I tried following presets:

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 05

See the result now:

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 06

Now, we have some selected area, but it is hidden for now, press Ctrl+H again to make it visible. Then press Ctrl+J to duplicate selected area to new layer. Then apply Filter > Sharpen > Sharpen Edges:

How to Sharpen Photo without Increasing Noise Visibility 07

That is it for now. We sharpened photo without increasing the noise visibility. Hope, you got some interesting knowledge from this tutorial.
